Thank you for your interest in serving as a founding board member of W.o.M.a.N (Working on Making a New Woman). We are a new, healing-centered, community-rooted nonprofit based in Richmond, Virginia. Our mission is to help women reclaim their self-worth, confidence, and voice through holistic and spiritually grounded programming.
While our home base is in Richmond, Virginia, W.o.M.a.N is a growing movement with board members and collaborators from multiple states who are helping us build programs, partnerships, and community connections locally and beyond.
Though not a religious nonprofit, we include Christian prayer in our board meetings and public gatherings as part of our grounding practice. As a founding board member, you will play a vital role in planning, designing, and approving initiatives that shape the vision, culture, and foundation of W.o.M.a.N for years to come.

Open Board Positions
We are currently seeking purpose-driven leaders with relevant professional or lived experience for the following volunteer-based and unpaid roles:
Fundraising Lead (Voting)
Prior experience required
Leads donor engagement, sponsorship development, and fundraising campaigns. Help plan, design, and approve fundraising strategies that build a strong giving culture within the board and community while supporting donor recognition and fundraising events.
Grant Development & Compliance Lead (Voting)
Prior experience required
Oversees grant research, proposal writing, and fund tracking. Works collaboratively with leadership to plan, design, and approve funding strategies. Ensures compliance with funder requirements and reporting deadlines to maintain transparency and accountability.
Marketing & Social Media Lead (Non-Voting)
Communications or nonprofit marketing experience preferred
Develops and manages W.o.M.a.N's public presence through storytelling, digital marketing, and brand awareness. Help plan, design, and approve outreach campaigns that share our programs and impact across platforms.
Local Community Engagement & Events Coordinator (Non-Voting)
(Must live in or near Richmond VA area)
Experience in outreach, partnership development, or event planning preferred
Leads outreach efforts, community collaborations, and special events. Works closely with Marketing and Fundraising to plan, design, and approve events that build visibility and deepen relationships with local partners, organizations, and supporters.
Board Commitment
Board members serve as active ambassadors for W.o.M.a.N, attending regular meetings, participating in strategic planning, and contributing their unique skills to help grow our mission.
Each board member plays a collaborative role in planning, designing, and approving the programs, policies, and partnerships that bring our vision to life.
